Derek Shoe - General Manager
Prior to taking over as General Manager of the Copperheads organization, Derek Shoe guided the summer collegiate league team of the Copperheads for six summers. In his six summers there, the Copperheads rewrote many records in the SCBL. They set league records in team batting average, runs scored, stolen bases, and team ERA. In 2010, the Copperheads captured the League Championship. They also won four other division titles. The Copperheads saw 30 former players go on to play professional baseball with two going as high as the eight round (Devin Harris and Tyler Horan) in the MLB Draft.
Prior to taking over the Copperheads collegiate program, Shoe served as an assistant at Pfeiffer University where he worked with hitters, infielders, and assisted in recruiting efforts. In 2004, the Falcons were ranked as high as 6th in the nation and led the nation with (114) homeruns. That number is still second all-time in NCAA Division II. That 2004 squad came up one game short of advancing to the College World Series.
Shoe also spent three years as the head coach at Concord High School. In just his second season, he guided the Spiders to their first playoff game in over 30 years. He sent on six players to play in college headlined by division I signee, Eric Brenk. In 2013, he left the field to focus on his business the East Coast Bat Company (www.eastcoastbats.com).
